What documents do I need to register my charity?

If your organization does not appear in our Causes Portal yet, we first need to confirm your organization is a registered charity or non-profit. Please email us the following according to your organization's country of origin:

 

Canada: 

Any ONE of the following:

 

  • A copy of your Charitable Status Letter from the CRA;
  • Articles or Certificate of Incorporation;
  • Society Act;
  • Letters Patent; OR
  • Supplementary Letters Patent

 

Ireland: 

Public Charity:

  • Any ONE of the following:
    • Your Charities Section Letter confirming registry with the Irish Revenue Commissioners;

School:

  • Any ONE of the following:
    • Your Charities Section Letter confirming registry with the Irish Revenue Commissioners;
    • A letter from the Department of Education confirming you are a registered school that contains your Roll Number.

 

United Kingdom:

Any ONE of the following:

  • Confirmation of Registration from the Charity Commission or Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC), the letter your organization received when it was awarded its charitable status;
  • Incorporation documents/deeds; OR
  • A receipt from your annual return with the Charity Commission.

  Northern Ireland

  • A letter your charity received when it was awarded its charitable status by Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC).

  Scotland

  • A letter from the Office of the Scottish Charity Registry (OSCR) recognizing your organization as a registered charity.

 

United States:

  Registered 501(c)3 Charities:

  • A copy of your IRS Letter of Determination stating your EIN and 501(c)3 tax exempt status 

  Municipalities and Governmental Organizations:

  • A copy of your W-9
