How does Benevity assess eligibility of my organisation?

Benevity's nonprofit due diligence framework is in place to assess the eligibility of your organisation. This framework helps our clients manage risk and maintain the integrity of their corporate purpose initiatives by ensuring only legitimate, secure, and trustworthy nonprofits engage with their programmes. Our multi-layered approach enables confident giving, volunteering, and granting decisions while adapting to the needs and risk tolerance of client programmes.

Benevity makes sure that your organisation:

  • Maintains valid charitable status according to the laws and regulations of the relevant regulatory bodies of the country where it operates.
  • Does not appear on watchlists and sanctions.
  • Adheres to Benevity's Causes Terms of Use which include our Platform Guidelines, which include strict prohibitions against activities such as hate speech, discrimination, military use of funds (as clarified in the December 30, 2025 update), sanctions, and financial crime.
  • Complies with all required verification processes, including the submission of formal attestations if requested.
  • Is subject to ongoing monitoring to ensure continued compliance.

In addition to this, Benevity's clients have their own unique programme eligibility rules that determine if your organisation is eligible for their programme.

If at any point your organisation is deemed ineligible for the Benevity platform, it is deactivated in the Causes Portal and cannot engage with client programmes. To restore access, your organisation may need to accept the Causes Terms of Use and contact Benevity.
