What is the Military Use of Funds Policy?

Update (effective December 30, 2025)

We have clarified existing policy standards to ensure they are applied consistently across the platform.
This clarification is effective December 30, 2025. No immediate action is required at this time.

The Military Use of Funds Policy requires all nonprofits on the Cause Platform to comply with the laws and regulations of the jurisdictions in which they operate.

As part of that requirement, charitable funds on Benevity may not be used for:

  • Combat operations or direct military support
  • Funding of military technology or military infrastructure
  • Procurement of weapons or military supplies

How this policy is applied

These standards apply across the Benevity platform and to all organizations, including those receiving funds from foundations other than the UK Online Giving Foundation (UKOGF). All nonprofits must follow the Terms of Use, which include our Military Use of Funds policy as part of the Platform Guidelines.

If a concern is raised about an organization's use of funds, Benevity may request a formal electronic attestation confirming compliance with this policy.
