Launched on Giving Tuesday 2025 as part of Anthropic's Claude for Non-profits launch, this integration eliminates friction in the charitable giving journey by making non-profit discovery as simple as having a conversation.
The Benevity General Non-profit MCP Server is a Model Context Protocol connector that integrates Benevity's extensive database of more than 2.4 million verified non-profit organisations directly into Claude AI. This allows users to discover, research, and learn about charitable causes through natural conversation rather than navigating multiple sites or directories.
For non-profits, this addresses a familiar challenge. Many supporters want to give but are unsure where to start. By pairing Anthropic's AI with Benevity's validated data, the integration gives people a clear starting point and makes it easier for new donors to find organisations that match their interests.
Do users need a Benevity account to access this connector?
The Benevity Non-profit connector is available to all Claude Pro users without requiring a Benevity account or any authentication.
How current is the non-profit information?
Non-profit data is curated and updated continuously by the team at Benevity. The connector uses cached data that refreshes regularly to ensure fast responses while maintaining accuracy.
Can users donate directly through Claude?
No. The connector provides verified links to non-profit websites where individuals can learn more or complete donations, keeping all giving within official, secure channels.
What happens if a specific non-profit does not appear in search results?
The database includes more than 2.4 million verified non-profits, but not every organisation may be listed. Users can try searching by location or cause area to discover similar organisations. If a non-profit does not appear, it may not yet be part of the validated Benevity network.
How many search results are returned at a time?
The connector returns up to ten results per query. Users can refine results with more specific keywords, cause areas or locations.
Is search data private?
Yes. Claude conversations, including non-profit searches, follow Claude's standard privacy practices. No personally identifiable information is shared with the MCP server, and all non-profit information provided is public data.
Can the connector be used inside Claude Code (IDE)?
Yes. Once connected, the Benevity connector works in both the Claude web interface and Claude Code.
What geographic regions are covered?
The database includes non-profits from around the world, with particularly strong coverage of U.S. based organisations and major international non-profits.
How accurate are the search results?
Results come from the Benevity Search Engine API, which uses relevance ranking to surface the most suitable organisations. Searches become more accurate when users include specific keywords, locations or cause areas.
Does the connector provide tax status or financial information?
The connector provides mission information, programme descriptions and website links. For tax or financial details, users should visit the non-profit's website or external resources such as Charity Navigator or GuideStar.
What should users do if the connector is not working?
They can try disconnecting and reconnecting the integration in Claude settings. If issues continue, they can contact Anthropic support through Claude's help experience. For questions tied specifically to non-profit data, Benevity Support is available through the B-Hive.
Will this be available for Claude Team or Enterprise?
The connector is currently available for Claude Pro users. For updates on availability for Team or Enterprise plans, organisations can contact Anthropic.
