How do I track and manage grant applications?

Use the grants management dashboard in the Benevity Causes Portal to see your submitted grant applications in one place. You can view application status, open details, and access a read-only copy of the application you submitted. You can also sort and filter the list to find what needs attention. If a grantor needs changes, the application status shows Action required and you can resubmit from the dashboard.

What do I need before I start?

You need access to the Benevity Causes Portal and must have at least one active or past grant application submitted through Benevity on behalf of our clients.

How do I open the grants management dashboard?

To open the grants management dashboard:

  1. Sign in to the Causes Portal.
  2. In the left navigation, select Grants.
  3. Select Explore New Grants Application Experience to open the grants management dashboard.
  4. Review the Grant Applications table to see your active and past applications.

What can I do in the grant applications table?

You can use the table to find applications quickly and open key views.

  • Sort your list
Select the arrows next to Application name, Organization, or Last updated.
  • Filter your list
Use available filters to narrow results by what you need to review.
  • View application details
Select the Application name, or open the Actions menu (three dots) and select View details.
  • View your original submission
From the details page, or the Actions menu, select View application submission to open a read-only copy in a new browser tab.

What do application statuses mean?

The Status column shows where the application is in the granting organization's review process.

Status What it means What you can do
In review Submitted and being reviewed by the grantor Wait for an update
Action required The grantor requested changes Select Resubmit to edit and submit again
Approved Funded Check for any follow-up requests
Declined Not funded No further action needed in the dashboard
Cancelled Cancelled by the grantor No further action needed in the dashboard
Follow-up survey Approved, and a survey is required Open the survey link and complete it

When can I resubmit an application?

You can resubmit only when the status is Action required. In that case, Resubmit appears in the Actions column and takes you to the original source where you submitted the application to complete the outstanding action and submit again. This option isn't available for new applications or after a grant is closed, declined, or cancelled.

How can our team share access without sharing passwords?

If you need others to help monitor and complete follow-up actions, add them as sub-users (additional users on your account with their own sign-in).

How often is the data updated?

The portal syncs with grant systems that provide application updates every 24 hours. Check Last updated to confirm when that row was refreshed.

Can I apply for new grants from this dashboard?

No. This view is only for tracking applications that were already submitted.

Why can't I edit my application?

The dashboard is read-only. If the grantor needs edits, the status changes to Action required, and you use Resubmit to open the form where edits can be made.

Why don't I see a payment status for an approved grant?

Payment and dispatch details appear only when the grantor uses Benevity's disbursement tools. If the granting organization pays outside of Benevity, those details will not appear.

How can I see who submitted the application?

If the submitter details were included, open View application submission and look for the submitter information on the read-only copy.
