How to sign up for Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)

To receive donations efficiently and securely, nonprofits can sign up for Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) through the Causes Portal. EFT ensures that funds are deposited directly into your bank account, eliminating delays and reducing administrative work. Learn more about the benefits of EFT here. 

The sign-up process varies depending on your nonprofit’s location. Follow the steps below based on your country to complete the registration process.

USA

For nonprofits in the USA: 

1. Select Donation Method on the left-hand side.
2. Select Update Donation Payment Method and choose your donation payment method. 
3. Fill out the required fields marked with a red asterisk (*).
4. Upload the banking information and make sure that the information provided on the form is included on and matches the information on the document. 
5. Review the information and Submit.

Canada

For nonprofits in Canada: 

1. Select Donation Method on the left-hand side.
2. Select Update Donation Payment Method and choose your donation payment method. 
3. Fill out the required fields marked with a red asterisk (*).
4. Upload the banking information and make sure that the information provided on the form is included on and matches the information on the document. Review the information and Submit.

Outside of North America

For nonprofits outside of North America: 

1. Select Donation Method on the left-hand side.
2. Select Update Donation Payment Method.
3. Fill out the required fields marked with a red asterisk (*).
4. Upload the banking information and ensure the information provided on the form matches the information on the document. 
5. Review the information and Submit.

Banking information varies depending on the country or region where your nonprofit is located. Please note that if your nonprofit is located outside Canada and the US, EFT is mandatory in order to receive donations. 

All EFT applications undergo a manual review by our internal teams, with processing times varying based on current submission volumes. You will receive an email notification once your application has been reviewed and processed.
