How do I change my payment method?

You can update your organization's donation payment method anytime through the Benevity Causes Portal. The steps depend on whether you are connecting EFT in the United States or using another payment method or country.

Changing to EFT in the United States

1. Log in to the Benevity Causes Portal.
2. Select Donation Method in the left navigation.
3. Select Update Donation Payment Method and choose EFT.
4. Complete the second-factor authentication (2FA) step if prompted. This only appears when you are updating bank details that are already saved.
5. Enter your bank details on the Connect Bank Account form, including your organization's legal name as it appears on the bank account.
6. Select Connect Account.

If verification succeeds, your bank account is connected and you receive a confirmation email that your banking information was updated. If verification cannot confirm your account, correct the details and try again, or upload a supporting document when the portal asks you to and select Upload bank letter.

Changing payment methods outside the United States

1. Log in to the Benevity Causes Portal.
2. Select Donation Method in the left navigation.
3. Select Update Donation Payment Method and choose your preferred payment method (EFT, PayPal, or Check).
4. Complete all required fields marked with a red asterisk (*).
5. Upload the supporting documentation if the portal asks for a document (required for EFT outside the United States). The information in your application must match the details in your supporting document. Acceptable documents vary — check the banking information for your country before you upload.
6. Review your application and select Submit.

What happens next?

US EFT applications are usually verified automatically when you select Connect Account. Applications that need a bank letter, and EFT or PayPal applications outside the automated US path, are reviewed by Benevity. Processing times vary based on submission volume.

When the review is complete, you receive an email notification, and the updated status appears in Donation Method. After approval, your previous banking information is securely archived.

If your current bank account can no longer accept funds, temporarily switch to Check payments before you submit a new EFT or PayPal application. This helps prevent disbursements from being sent to a closed or inaccessible account while your new application is under review.
