Why am I seeing an error when I register?

When you register your organization in the Benevity Causes Portal, an error message may appear. Most registration errors happen when you already have an account. Others occur when you try to use the same email address on more than one profile. Use the steps below to resolve the issue before contacting Support.

If you haven't started registration yet, start by registering your nonprofit in the Causes Portal.

Why am I seeing "Registration unsuccessful"?

This error means you already have a Benevity user account.

  1. Go to benevity.com/nonprofits.
  2. Select Causes Portal Login.
  3. Enter your existing username and password.

Forgot your password? Select the password reset link on the sign-in screen and follow the prompts to update your details.

You don't need to complete registration again if you can sign in to an existing account.

Why am I seeing "An error has occurred while saving your progress"?

This error happens for one of two reasons. Review both scenarios below to find the right fix.

If you already have an account

If you already have an active account, you don't need to register again.

  1. Go to benevity.com/nonprofits.
  2. Select Causes Portal Login.
  3. Enter your current username and password.

Forgot your password? Select the password reset link on the sign-in screen and follow the prompts to update your details.

If you want to manage multiple profiles

Primary users can manage more than one organizational profile with a single set of login credentials.

If you want to become a primary user for an additional profile, contact the Support team to start the change.

When you contact Support, provide:

  • Authorization letter: A letter from a signing authority confirming that you're authorized to administer the organization's nonprofit profile.
  • Bank documentation: A void check or official banking document that shows your organization's legal name.

Note: You must provide official bank documentation to complete the Verify Your Organization step in the Causes Portal. Support uses this document to confirm your affiliation with the organization and can't accept alternative documents. This document is for verification only and isn't used to set up electronic donation payments.
