Due to the complexities involved in the submission and processing of Gift Aid claims by Charitable Giving, as well as the approval timelines by HM Revenue & Customs, Benevity lacks visibility into the approval status of these claims or whether they've been approved and sent to the nonprofit. For this reason, there is no associated report in the Causes Portal on individual transactions.
The total amount of Gift Aid for donations made over the past calendar quarter is deposited directly to your account from Charitable Giving. The transaction description is BENEVITY GIFT AID on your organization’s bank statement.
You can review your disbursement report over the past calendar quarter to find donations that could be eligible for Gift Aid. Gift Aid is roughly 25% of the original donation amount.
Can Charitable Giving (CG) provide my nonprofit with Gift Aid reports?
No, CG does not provide Gift Aid reporting to nonprofits. Due to data protection concerns, CG cannot provide reports containing any donor details. Additionally, a comprehensive report is not feasible as not all donations are eligible for Gift Aid, and retrieving the data from HMRC can lead to delays beyond CG's control.
