Keeping your nonprofit profile up to date in the Benevity Causes Portal is important as it helps you get discovered, builds trust, and shows potential donors and volunteers what your organization is all about. Here’s how to edit your profile and make the most of your presence.
Who can edit the profile?
The person managing your cause account can edit your profile at any time.
How do I edit my profile?
- Log in to the Causes Portal.
- Click on Cause Profile on the left-hand side menu.
- Make your changes.
- Scroll down and click Save.
Please note that it can take up to 24 hours for edits in the Causes Portal to appear. Your changes will sync into Benevity’s client-facing donation, volunteer, and granting programs.
What should I include in my profile?
A strong, complete profile helps people understand who you are and why your work matters. Here are some tips to make your profile stand out:
- Organization name and country: Make sure these are accurate and up to date.
- Mission statement: Clearly describe what you do and the impact you’re making. Be concise, direct, and focused on the value of your work.
- Add your logo: Upload a clear, high-resolution version of your logo. It helps build credibility and makes your organization easily recognizable. Learn more about how to troubleshoot if your logo does not fit.
- Tags and keywords: Add relevant tags and search terms that reflect your focus areas, programs, or communities you serve. This helps you show up in donor and company searches—for example, “youth education,” “climate action,” or “Indigenous nonprofit.”
- Search Alias: If your organization is known by multiple names, abbreviations, or has a “doing business as” name, you can add these under Search Alias to help ensure your profile appears in donor searches.
- External links: Include your website and social media profiles so supporters can learn more and stay connected.
Why your profile matters
Your profile is often the first thing potential donors and volunteers see, so it’s important to make it complete and compelling. A strong profile increases your visibility, builds trust and credibility, boosts engagement, and helps you connect with companies and individuals looking to support causes like yours.
