How does Benevity issue tax receipts and donation acknowledgments?

Donations made through the Benevity platform are received and disbursed by the charitable foundations Benevity works with. These charitable foundations issue a tax receipt or donation acknowledgment on your behalf to both donors and corporations. Your organization doesn't need to send Benevity or the foundations a tax receipt or donation confirmation.

If a donor has received a donation acknowledgment from a charitable foundation and they are requesting a formal tax receipt, you will need to determine if one can be issued based on the applicable laws of your jurisdiction.

We do encourage organizations to thank individual donors for their donations. Learn how to find reports to learn more about your supporters.

If you are inquiring about how to credit donations for tax purposes, note that it is the charitable foundation that should be credited. The charitable foundations sponsor Donor Advised Funds (DAFs), and they have sole discretion over the collection and disbursement of all donations.
