Tax receipts and donation acknowledgments

Donations made through the Benevity platform are received and disbursed by our foundation partners. Our partners issue the appropriate tax receipt or donation acknowledgment on your behalf to both donors and corporations. Your organization does not need to send Benevity, or our partners, a tax receipt or donation confirmation.

We do encourage organizations to thank individual donors for their donations. Learn how to find reports to see who your supporters are.

If you are inquiring about how to credit donations for tax purposes, note that it is the foundation that should be credited. Our foundation partners operate with donor-advised funds and they are responsible for the collection and disbursement of all donations.

If your donor has received a donation acknowledgment from our foundation partner and they are requesting a formal tax receipt, you will need to make that tax effectiveness determination based on the applicable laws of your jurisdiction.
